The Redpoint Team
Finding the right venture partner boils down to people and chemistry. Although each Redpoint partner brings a unique set of skills and experiences, we share a common set of core values: integrity and trust; a passion for technology; a commitment to being a hands-on, hard-working partner; a belief in the power of a true team approach; a desire to change the world. And above all, we have a deep respect for the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurial process.
Nety Krishna

Nety Krishna is a Partner at Redpoint Ventures focusing on the Materials & Energy practice.
Current areas of interest include applications that benefit from disruptive materials, new chemistries, novel systems, processes and business models. Focus areas include: solid state lighting, novel fuel and chemical synthesis, high performance and scalable energy storage solutions, new material sets for renewable energy generation, medium and long term pollutant mitigation and minimization technologies, solutions to improve existing infrastructure to leverage energy efficiency.
Nety's venture experience includes his current role at Redpoint and his earlier engagements at Applied Ventures. At Redpoint, Nety has been intimately involved in the following companies - Liquid Light (CO2 to chemicals/fuels), Tantalus (SmartGrid Communications), Envia (High energy density Li-ion battery materials) and InterMolecular (Materials Discovery and Optimization for Semiconductor and Energy industries). SiOrah, a company that was seeded at Redpoint, was acquired for its novel technology that could deposit GaN on Silicon at low temperatures.
At Applied Ventures, Nety was closely associated with investments in many sectors including PV, Displays, Electrochromics, Energy Storage, Solid State Lighting, Fuel Cells, ReRAM Memory.
Nety brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in taking very nascent and raw ideas and working through the process of scaling them up for high volume production.
Prior to Redpoint, Nety spent more than 13 years at Applied Materials where he helped to develop and roll-out several state-of-the-art technologies and equipment that became standard processes for the global semiconductor manufacturing industry. Nety served as a core member of SRC and ITRS Working Groups related to emerging materials and devices.
Nety built up and led the Advanced Technology Group in the Office of the CTO. He had a key role in developing the charter and the strategy for expanding into new segments. His group's activities covered technology and business model developments of new materials and systems for Advanced PV, Energy Efficiency, Lithium Ion Batteries, New Plasma Sources, Novel Flash Memories and Solid State Lighting.
Before joining Applied Materials, Nety worked on high energy physics experiments at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center & Univ. of Colorado, Boulder. The group was focused on understanding the early stages of the formation of the universe. He played a central role in many aspects of the experiment and devoted countless, happy hours in the collider hall.
Nety currently serves as an advisor to the Dept. of Mat. Sci. and Engg. at Stanford University and mentor for the Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology, UC Berkeley. He is on the Advisory Boards of the RPI Smart Lighting ERC and the ASU Venture Catalyst organizations.
Nety received his M.Sc. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Particle Physics from Rice University.
